Author(s):

C. C. Carlson

Publication:

Symposium Papers

Volume:

Abstract:

Fire testing procedures in the United States and Europe are examined and compared. Notes that although the standards of different countries are similar in general considerations, differences exist in the details of application. Specimen restraint is discussed.

SP5-02

Date:

January 1, 1962

Author(s):

I. A. Benjamin

Publication:

Symposium Papers

Volume:

Abstract:

Examines the effect of thermal and structural factors on the fire endurance of normal reinforced concrete. The effects on fire endurance of such variables as type of aggregate, moisture content of the specimen, and the ability of cover to remain in place are discussed.

DOI:

January 1, 1962

Author(s):

R. R. Sheridan

Publication:

Symposium Papers

Volume:

Abstract:

The degree of fire protection given to steel columns, beams, and girders by various thicknesses of concrete cover is discussed. Protective ceilings used with beam and slab construction and the fire resistance of monolithic concrete and concrete masonry walls are considered.

Abstract:

Presents data and compares fire test results from various countries of prestressed concrete beams and slabs. Effect of end restraint on fire resistance of prestressed elements is discussed. The fire endurance of normal reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete are compared.
