The Stevens Institute of Technology team earned first place in the
UHPC student competition
calculations, their poster presentation, and a short video about
their preparation for the competition.
The UHPC student competition committee is represented
by academics and industry personnel, including Co-Chairs
Sriram Aaleti, University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa, and
Mohammed Alnaggar, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Other
committee members are Kacie D’Alessandro, Washington and
Lee University; Rafic El Helou, NRC Associate at FHWA;
Bill Kulish, Steelike Concrete; Marta Miletic, Auburn
University; Jimm Milligan, Bekaert; Matthew Offenberg,
Owens Corning; Pinar Okumus, The State University of New
York – Buffalo; George Quercia, TAKTL; Ravi Ranade, The
State University of New York – Buffalo; Larry Rowland,
Lehigh White Cement; Nathalie Roy, University of Sherbrooke,
Canada; Hartanto Wibowo, Iowa State University; and Jun Xia,
Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China.
The student teams in the on-site competition were: ••Iowa State University; ••University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa; ••Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China; ••Stevens Institute of Technology; ••University of Connecticut; ••University of Delaware; ••Virginia Military Institute; ••State Polytechnic of Semarang, Indonesia; and ••Catholic University of Cuenca, Ecuador (two teams).
The prize recipients included: ••First place overall, Stevens Institute of Technology, prize:
$600, certificate, and UHPC winner trophy; ••Second place overall, University of Delaware, prize: $300
and certificate; ••Third place overall, Catholic University of Cuenca, prize:
$200 and certificate; ••Best Report, University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa, prize:
$150 and certificate; ••Sustainable Design, University of Connecticut, prize: $100
