2007-2008 ACI Student Fellowship Recipients:
andrew coughlin Andrew Coughlin received his BS in civil engineering from California State University in December 2006 and is currently pursuing his MS in civil engineering at Pennsylvania State University. Following graduation from Penn State, Coughlin would like to work in the consulting industry for a few years and eventually enter a doctoral program where he intends to focus on the application of safe, sustainable, and economical design principles around the world. matthew tobolski Matthew Tobolski is currently pursuing his MS in structural engineering and PhD in structural engineering from the University of California, San Diego. After graduating with his PhD, Tobolski intends on reaching his goal to bridge the gap between academics and the industry personnel. Ideally, Toboloski hopes to work for a bridge design firm where he could not only design but also stay active in research and committees. Nominator: Dr. Jose I. Charles Pankow Foundation ACI Student Fellowship:
remy lequesne Remy Lequesne is currently pursuing his MSE in civil engineering–structures at the University of Michigan, but will graduate this spring with plans to begin working toward completing his PhD. Lequesne is interested in studying potential structural benefits of incorporating high-performance concrete in design and how new design methods can contribute to safer, more efficient concrete structures.  Nominator: Dr. James K. 2007-2008 ACI-W. R. Grace Scholarship Recipient:
thomas vande voort

Thomas Vande Voort received his Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in 2006 and is currently pursuing a Master of Science with specialization in structural engineering from Iowa State University. Vande Voort looks forward to working with a design firm after graduation and using concrete to its fullest potential.

2007-2008 ACI Bertold E. Weinberg Scholarship Recipient:
david naish David Naish received his Bachelor of Science degree from University of California-Los Angeles in 2006 and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree from University of California-Los Angeles. Naish’s immediate goal is to work toward a PhD in structural engineering and to make a contribution back to his university through his research.
2007-2008 ACI Scholarship Recipient:
john cleary John Cleary received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 2006 from Cleveland State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from Cleveland State University. Cleary’s long-term goals include finishing his master’s degree and the possibility of pursuing a doctoral degree in engineering.
2007-2008 V. Mohan Malhotra Scholarship Recipient:
james woodward James Woodward received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 2004 from the University of Virginia and will pursue his Master of Science in civil engineering this fall from either Oregon State University or Georgia Institute of Technology. Following graduation, Woodward foresees himself with a path in industry research and design capacity.
2007-2008 ACI  Katharine and Bryant Mather Scholarship Recipient:
nimish mistry Nimish Mistry received his degree in civil and environmental engineering from the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in India and intends to pursue a degree in structural engineering from the Clarkson University. In the future, Mistry hopes to become a successful structural engineer serving the technical community.


Student Paper Award:

 
2007-2008 ACI-James Instruments Student Award for Research on NDT of Concrete Recipient:
Gonzalo Cetrangolo was selected for his paper titled "Inspection of Concrete Using Air-Coupled Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Method." Cetrangolo recently graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
