As established by Institute bylaws, ACI defines seven classifications of membership as follows:
- Honorary Members
- ACI Fellows
- Sustaining Members
- Organizational Members
- Members
- Young Professional Members
- Student Members
Definitions of all classes of membership may be found in the ACI Bylaws section. Questions regarding the status or classification of a specific membership may be directed to ACI's Member Services Department (refer to the Staff and Services Directory section for address and phone/fax information).
Long-Time ACI Members 
The Institute has a policy of reduced membership dues for long-time members whereby, upon application, a retired member who has reached age 65 and has been a member for 25 years is eligible for continued membership at one half of regular dues. In the case of members who have belonged to the Institute for 45 years or more, there is no charge for continuing membership.
