FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (March 3, 2008) -
The American Concrete Institute (ACI) is pleased to announce its online Concrete Knowledge Center has been recognized by 2008 World of Concrete attendees and the Hanley Wood editorial staff as one of the “Most Innovative Products” of the year.
The “Most Innovative Products” contest, sponsored by Hanley Wood, is an annual contest in which organizations and businesses nominate their products to be voted on during the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas, Nev. This year, 144 products were submitted in 14 categories of the concrete industry, and one winner was chosen from each category. The Concrete Knowledge Center was one of the “Attendee’s Choice” winners in this year’s contest.
“We are extremely excited that our peers in the concrete industry have chosen the ACI Concrete Knowledge Center as one of the ‘Most Innovative Products’ this year,” said William R. Tolley, executive vice president of the American Concrete Institute. “The Concrete Knowledge Center keeps the concrete industry updated on the cutting-edge information of concrete construction, and we hope that our nearly 20,000 members continue to find value in it.”
ACI’s Concrete Knowledge Center, which was first launched in 2007, grants instant access to information that will help the concrete professional or students at any level of his career understand building code requirements and find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about concrete and concrete construction. The compiled information, carefully selected by experts, includes full-text articles from Concrete International magazine, Concrete Construction magazine, and various manuals, standards, publications, and research papers.
Among the many highlights of the Concrete Knowledge Center are specific case studies and explanations of ACI 318, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete. In addition, an extensive Troubleshooting section, Form Design Spreadsheets, and access to the Virtual Cement & Concrete Testing Laboratory from the National Institute of Standards & Technology are also included within the Concrete Knowledge Center.
