Faculty   

Two of the following will be your instructors:

Robert B. Anderson, PE, FACI, is a Concrete Floor Consultant, New Orleans, LA, with more than 30 years of experience. He has been the primary designer for several million square feet of industrial and residential slabs, and in 1964 was responsible for the design and placement of the first residential post-tensioned concrete slab on ground in North America.

Barry E. Foreman, PE, Vice President/Master Professional, TranSystems, York, PA. He is a structural engineer with over 35 years experience in the design of industrial floors. His firm works nationwide in the design of industrial buildings with a special emphasis on distribution warehouses, cold storage buildings and food processing facilities. Mr. Foreman provides slab design and construction consulting, forensic consulting and concrete mix design consulting services. Mr. Foreman is an active member of ACI and is a voting committee member of ACI 360, Design of Slabs on Ground; ACI 302, Construction of Concrete Floors; ACI 301, Specifications for Concrete; and ACI 223, Shrinkage-Compensating Concrete.

Patrick J. Harrison, Senior Consultant, Structural Services, Inc., Prairie Village, KS. He has over 20 years experience in consultation for concrete floor slab design, construction, and testing. Previously a vice president with a leading national concrete flooring contractor, his specialization includes high-quality surface tolerances, hardened surfaces, bonded toppings, post-tensioning, steel fiber reinforcing, and shrinkage compensating concrete systems for industrial flooring. Prior to his present position, he was a consultant in design, construction, and troubleshooting problems for industrial concrete floors with Face Consultants as well as manager of industrial flooring for a leading fiber reinforcing manufacturer. Mr. Harrison is currently the chair of ACI 302, Construction of Concrete Floors; and ACI 360, Design of Slabs on Ground.

Jerry A. Holland, PE, FACI, Director, Design Services, Structural Services Inc., Atlanta, GA. He has over 45 years of worldwide experience in design, construction, and troubleshooting concrete materials, floors, pavements, other structures, and related geotechnical problems. During most of that time Mr. Holland was with Lockwood Greene Engineers in Atlanta. He specializes in concrete mixes, floor slabs on ground including superflat and other specialty floors and suspended slabs, fiber reinforcement, post-tensioning, shrinkage-compensating concrete, paving, and liquid containing structures. He has had past projects in almost every state in the U.S. and on every continent except Antarctica. Mr. Holland is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute, a past Chair and member of ACI 360, Design of Slabs on Grade; and a member of ACI 223, Shrinkage-Compensating Concrete; ACI 302, Construction of Concrete Floors; ACI 325, Concrete Pavement; and ACI 350, Environmental Structures.

James H. Loper, is a registered professional engineer and currently serves as the structural engineering discipline director for Jacobs Engineering in Arlington, VA. During his 22-year career, he has been involved in wide range of design, construction, and troubleshooting projects while employed at Lockwood Greene Engineers, Bekaert Corporation, and VSL. His experience includes design of conventionally reinforced, unreinforced, post-tensioned, and fiber reinforced slabs-on-ground. Notable projects in which he was involved include the Washington Dulles Air Traffic Control Tower Project and the Fallingwater Restoration Project. Most recently, he has been directly involved in the design of nationwide training facilities for the Department of Defense. He is a member of ACI 360, Design of Slabs on Grade and past secretary of ACI 364, Rehabilitation.

Arthur W. McKinney, PE, SE, FACEC, LEED AP, practicing Structural Engineer with 44 years of experience on over 100,000,000 square feet of industrial floors; including detail design, construction, testing, forensic analysis and remediation in an international practice. Mr. McKinney is Chief Executive Officer of McKinney and Company, Ashland, VA, a full service planning, design, and construction company, which includes a certified testing and materials development laboratory and services. Active in ACI, Mr. McKinney is a member and past Chair of ACI 360, Design of Slabs on Ground; a member of ACI 117, Tolerances, a member of ACI 302, Construction of Concrete Floors and a member of ACI 301G, Industrial Floors.

R. Gregory Taylor, PE with over 30 years of experience, is the owner of Taylor Design Associates, Inc., Hyannis, MA. Mr. Taylor has been involved with the design and construction of commercial and industrial slabs on a nationwide basis. He is past Chair of ACI 302, Construction of Concrete Floors; and is a member of ACI 360, Design of Slabs on Ground.
