Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. The seminar will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Lunch will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Breakfast breads/pastries, lunch, coffee breaks, and publications are included in your registration fee.
Two of the following will be your instructors:
Kim D. Basham, PhD, PE and President of KB Engineering, LLC located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute, The Concrete Society, American Society of Concrete Contractors, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a member of ACI 306, Cold Weather Concreting and instructor in the ACI certification program for field technicians and craftsmen. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a PhD in Structures from the University of Wyoming. Prior to founding KB Engineering, he was a principal with Concrete Engineering Specialists and worked as a structural engineer for Structural Services, Inc. and Baker Concrete Construction. Also, Dr. Basham has taught structural analysis and concrete design courses at the University of Wyoming and Virginia Military Institute and been an Assistant Editor for Concrete Construction Magazine and Director of Engineering for World of Concrete. Dr. Basham specializes in concrete design and technology, concrete construction and troubleshooting, nondestructive testing, forensic investigations, and concrete repair. He has published over 100 articles and taught many concrete seminars directed towards engineers, architects and contractors across the United States and abroad.
Douglas W. Deno, PE, FACI, Principal, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Dallas, TX, is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and Texas. He is a Fellow of ACI; a past member of the ACI Board of Direction; past chair of the Educational Activities Committee; and currently a member of ACI 232 - Fly Ash and Natural Pozzolans in Concrete, ACI 302 - Construction of Concrete Floors, and ACI 330 - Parking Lots and Site Paving. He is an Honorary Member of ASTM Committee C09 - Concrete and Aggregates, past chair and current member of ASTM C09.40 - Ready-Mixed Concrete, and a member of C09.60 - Testing Fresh Concrete.
Frank A. Kozeliski, PE, FACI, is a Consultant and Materials Engineer. He is knowledgeable in ready mix concretesince he ran and owned Gallup Sand & Gravel before selling in 2007. He has been active in placing and working on Pervious Concrete the past 20 years and using recycle material in concrete for examples, glass, rubber, and recycle paper. He graduated from New Mexico State University with his BS and MS in civil engineering, and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama, Texas, and New Mexico. He is an ACI Fellow and has been active in the activities of ACI’s New Mexico Chapter since its inception. He served as Chair of ACI 211, Proportioning Concrete, and is a member of ACI 229, Flowable Fill; ACI 305, Hot Weather Concreting; ACI 308, Curing; ACI 330, Concrete Parking Lots; and E801, Student Activities. He also is a member of several other professional organizations.
W. Calvin McCall, PE, FACI, Senior Materials Engineer, Concrete Engineering Specialists, Charlotte, NC. Mr. McCall was formerly with Structural Services, Inc.. With over 30 years in the concrete industry, his duties have included quality control of concrete operations, troubleshooting, technical training, and concrete inspection. He is a licensed engineer and has served as an examiner and trainer for many certification programs sponsored by the ACI Carolinas Chapter. He is Chair of ACI 301, Specifications, and a member ACI 318, Building Code, and numerous other ACI Committees.
Charles K. Nmai, PhD, PE, FACI is Manager of Engineering Services at BASF Construction Chemicals, LLC, a leading manufacturer of specialty construction chemicals headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. His duties include providing technical leadership and strategic guidance in the marketing of admixtures and high-performance concrete technologies, and troubleshooting concrete problems. He is also actively involved in high-performance concrete technology transfer activities. He is a Fellow of ACI, a past member of the ACI Board of Direction and Educational Activities Committee, past chair of ACI Committees E 701 - Materials for Concrete Construction and ACI 222 - Corrosion of Metals in Concrete, and a member of other ACI, ASTM and PCI committees.
Luke M. Snell, PhD, PE, FACI, is the Eminent Scholar of the Concrete Industry Management program in the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University. He has done extensive consulting work on construction and concrete problems throughout the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Mongolia, and Algeria. He has also written over 200 articles on concrete, construction materials, and construction education. Snell is the Chair of the ACI International Committee and ACI Committee 120, History of Concrete. He is or has been a member of ACI Committees 517, Accelerated Curing of Concrete (discharged); E702, Designing Concrete Structures; the Construction Liaison Committee; Financial Activities Committee; and the Chapter Activities Committee. He is a Past Chair of ACI Committees 517, Accelerated Curing of Concrete; E702, Designing Concrete Structures; the ACI Chapter Activities Committee; and the Educational Activities Committee. He is also a past member of the Board of Direction. Snell is an ACI Fellow and received the ACI Joe W. Kelly Award in 1995, the ACI Chapter Activities Award in 1997, and was the ACI Educational Committee Member of the Year in 2002. He has received various other awards and was named one of the Ten Most Influential People of the Year in the Concrete Industry by Concrete Construction and Concrete Producer magazines in 2007, Construction Laureate of Mongolia (2007), and the Henry L Kennedy Award from ACI (2008) His research interests include construction materials and concrete construction. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri, Illinois, and Arizona.
