ACI Student Fellowships:

 
2004-2005 ACI Student Fellowship Recipients:
Elizabeth Gaynor is currently pursuing a master's in civil engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering at Villanova University, where she also completed her bachelor's in civil engineering in 2003. After completing her degree, Elizabeth hopes to acquire a position in the research and development of new concrete products and materials, or in the historical preservation of concrete structures. After earning her professional license, she also hopes to earn her PhD. Faculty nominator: Shawn P. Gross, Villanova University; Convention guide: Rachel Detwiler, Construction Tech Labs, Inc.
Kyle Riding is currently attending the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a PhD in concrete materials, with plans to graduate in 2007. He earned his BS in civil and environmental engineering at Brigham Young University in 2002. Kyle’s long-term career goal is to teach and research concrete materials at a major research institution. ACI Graduate Scholarships:

 
2004-2005 ACI/W. R. Grace Scholarship Recipient:

Michelle Conliffe plans to pursue an MS in civil and environmental engineering, specializing in the field of earthquake engineering and performance base design at Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her BS in civil engineering from the University of the West Indies in 1999. Michelle’s long-term goal is to educate others on the knowledge of earthquake-resistant design.

2004-2005 V. Mohan Malhotra Scholarship Recipient:
Andrew Brinks is currently attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign working toward an MS in civil engineering, specifically in the construction materials department. He received his BS in civil engineering at Michigan State University in 2003. In his professional career, he would like to be involved in the use of innovative new materials in the concrete industry. Long term, Andrew would also like to teach students, as he feels compelled to pass on his enthusiasm to those who follow.
2004-2005 ACI/Bertold E. Weinberg Scholarship Recipient:
Thomas McQuillan plans to pursue a master's degree in structural engineering with emphasis in bridge design at Purdue University, where he is currently finishing his BS in civil engineering with emphasis in structures. After obtaining his degree, Thomas plans to begin a career as a consulting engineer.
2004-2005 ACI Scholarship Recipient:
Jared Whigham is currently pursuing his master's in civil engineering at Auburn University, where he obtained his BS in civil engineering in 2003. Upon completion of his master’s degree, he plans to pursue a PhD and then begin working with a structural engineering firm. Long term, he would like to obtain a professional engineer’s license and own a structural design firm.

2004-2005 Peter D. Courtois Concrete Construction
Scholarship Recipient:
Christopher Bauer is currently attending Iowa State University, pursuing his BS in civil engineering, with plans to graduate in 2005. After completing a graduate degree program in civil engineering, Christopher plans to work toward his professional license as well as his land surveying license.
Nathan Guessetto is pursuing a BS in concrete industry management at Middle Tennessee State University with an expected graduation date of 2005. His future plans include working with a company that specializes in concrete refurbishing, and repair and plant management.
