Material Science of Concrete

(Organized 1996)

Chair: Kimberly Kurtis              TAC Contact: David Lange

Mission

Develop and report information on the material science basis of concrete technology.

Goals

1) Develop sessions to increase awareness of material science research for concrete; 2) Develop an article series in CI; 3) Define transport mechanisms, summarize their theory, and review methods for measurement, through Subcommittee 236B, Transport Mechanisms in Concrete; 4) Develop a database on existing simulation methods through Subcommittee 236C, Virtual Concrete Technology; 5) Promote understanding of the nanoscale properties of concrete through Subcommittee 236D "Nanotechnology of Concrete."
